The Search Monitor created a chart showing the CPC benchmarks across five industries, similar to the one posted yesterday comparing ad ranking. The five industries measured were retail, finance, travel, auto, and telecom. As a whole, finance has the highest average CPC for both middle-tier and top-tier advertisers and it is also the only one of the five areas that saw middle-tier advertisers with lower CPCs than the top-tier advertisers. The lowest average CPC industry was the retail industry. The highest CPC scores were both found with the middle-tier advertisers in the telecom industry under 'satellite' and 'teleconferencing'.
