Social Signals Do Not Directly Impact Google Search Rankings

John Mueller of Google has stated that the social signals of posts on social media (i.e. likes, shares, retweets, etc.) has little to no effect on the rankings for searches on Google. They don't rank people up because they have more content, but it is possible that content with brand or product names in it has a possibility of showing up. The only exposure increase that comes from these posts is from the social sites themselves.
