Snapchat Will Charge Brands To Make Their Mark On Your Silly Selfies

Snapchat will charge up to $750,000 for advertisers to have their posts promoted as 'sponsored lenses' during peak hours of use. These sponsored lenses allow brands to overlay what they want over the selfies of the 100 million strong user base of Snapchat. The company has been playing around with different ways to advertise without blatantly hindering the user experience. They started with ads that users had to click and hold to view before moving to ads placed in the sponsored stories. They also allow special features depending on locations that can be purchased as ad space. These creative forms of advertising are what Snapchat believes will best reach young audiences today.
